Waxing Prep

Getting your bikini line waxed for the first time can be somewhat intimidating, We use Lycon Hot Wax which is ‘virtually pain-free’ waxing. Our technique is designed to make the whole process quicker, easier and more hygienic* than ever before.*That means gloves, wax strips, sanitizer and absolutely no ‘double dipping’ (no we’re not talking about snacks, this just means that we use a new spatula each time we take wax from the pot)

I’m new to waxing…How do I know what to book?

At Boudoir Lashes we offer 5 different types of bikini line wax, and if you’re not sure what to go for let us know in advance as we can help yu decide which one to book in for.

The Basic Bikini Wax - This removes hair from the sides and top of the knicker line only (does not include the lines negra) and takes about 20 minutes.

The G-String Wax / High Bikini - This removes hair from the same areas but follows the line of a g-string knicker, offering a higher cut option. It also takes around 20 minutes.

The Brazilian Bikini Wax - This removes off everything from the intimate areas (front and back), as well as the sides and top of the bikini area, leaving a strip of hair at the front. It is our most popular treatment and takes 20-30 minutes. if you’re on your time of the month just pop a fresh tampon on before your treatment.

The Hollywood Bikini Wax - This takes everything off and again takes 20-30 minutes

Waxing Prep

To get the best results and to achieve silky soft skin, you need to prepare it pre-wax. You need to have some hair or stubble (anything longer than about 2mm should do it) so that the wax has something to cling on to. Don’t worry about your hair being too long – we can always trim it during the appointment so that everything will be in proportion by the time we’ve finished. For the ladies – skin sensitivity is heightened just before and during your period so you might want to avoid this time.

Showering / Bathing Before - We need the skin to be dry and not moist as this can cause the skin to lift during waxing.

We pride ourselves on being able to perform virtually pain-free waxes, however it really does depend on your pain threshold. We use premium quality Lycon wax, plus pre and post skincare products to help prep the skin ready for waxing.

We are trained to stretch the skin and position your body in an effort to minimise the pain. If you are particularly sensitive you could take some pain relief (avoid ibuprofen /aspirin as this thins your blood and reduces the coagulation process) before your appointment but when done properly, it really isn’t that bad!

Take Care Before You Bare - We recommend wearing loose clothing and cotton undies so that the freshly waxed area isn’t irritated, and for 24 hours after your wax we advise clients to avoid anything that makes you too sweaty. Avoid very hot baths  or showers as these can anger sensitised skin – ouch! Skin reactions after a bikini wax depend on your skin type and can really vary. We can discuss preventative methods when you come in for your appointment. Your wax will generally last 4-6 weeks, shaving is the enemy – If you want to remain hair-free for as long as possible, you really should grow the hair for three to four weeks before getting waxed again. That means NO shaving in between – if you don’t let it grow long enough then not only will it potentially hurt more when you’re being waxed, but you won’t get a smooth finish, and the hair will start to grow back before you know it.

We really wouldn’t recommend waxing yourself at home, as you can end up with bruised or torn skin. By the time you pay out for the home waxing kits (and get wax all over the bedroom), it’s really not worth it. Leave it to us.
